Brand History

Behind the founders

Bespoke taught us that good things are shaped by attention, judgement and time. We carry these standards into everything the house produces, inviting a new generation to experience handmade shoemaking at its best.

The House

Established in Bucharest in 2018 by Petru Coca and Mircea Cioponea, Petru Claymoor was the first Romanian house devoted entirely to bespoke shoemaking.

Petru Claymoor brings together the Viennese sense of proportion of its Transylvanian workshop and the Parisian ease of Bucharest, giving the house a distinctly European sensibility—urban, cultivated and contemporary.

Established in Bucharest in 2018 by Petru Coca and Mircea Cioponea, Petru Claymoor was the first Romanian house devoted entirely to bespoke shoemaking.

While bespoke remains its point of departure, Petru Claymoor approaches shoemaking through the eyes of contemporary artisans, introducing a new generation to the lasting value of objects shaped by skill, patience and uncompromising standards.

Privately owned and deliberately independent, the house continues to work according to its own standards, pace and direction.

Its private showroom in Bucharest is reserved for consultations, fittings and individual appointments.

Founder

Petru Coca

The workshop is where the standards of the house are defined.

For Petru Coca, every shoe begins with proportion and construction. Before the leather is selected or the sole is stitched, its balance, structure and purpose must already be clear.

Over the years, he has developed the technical language of Petru Claymoor: the principles that determine how each pair is conceived, constructed and finished. These principles guide every bespoke commission, collaboration and new model developed by the house.

For him, quality begins with the first decision and depends on every decision that follows.

Founder

Mircea Cioponea

Every commission begins long before the first fitting.

Petru Claymoor grew from a longstanding interest in classic menswear, craftsmanship and the culture that surrounds them—an interest first expressed through Claymoor’s List, the independent editorial publication founded by Mircea Cioponea in 2011 and read internationally by enthusiasts and professionals of bespoke footwear and fine menswear.

He leads the development of the house and remains closely involved in its relationship with clients. From the first conversation to the final fitting, he brings together the client’s expectations, the possibilities of the workshop and the wider direction of the house.

New projects, collaborations and opportunities often begin with his ability to recognise where the values of Petru Claymoor can take on a new form. As the house grows, his role is to extend its reach without compromising the standards on which it was founded.
